I just left the viewing for hale. Wonder why the call it that. A viewing, sounds so industrial and cold. Like we all drove by a crash scene to stare at what happened. Just don’t seem right. Why not just call it what it was, fellowship. Now there is a title that I can hang a tooth in. Fellowship that is what I want when I go and that is what I see that we did tonight. Merriam-Webster online defines fellowship as
1a: community of interest, activity, feeling, or experience b: the state of being a fellow or associate
2: a company of equals or friends
That is a better title we all went in the company of equals or friends to honor a fellow associate. There were hugs, laughs and a few tears. Myself I can wait on the tears. If you have no idea what it is like to see a friend that is the same age as you lying in a casket then you need to let a knee hit the floor and thank god! I have had a few lost love ones in my young life of 36 but this time we are the same, kind of hard to swallow.
A great man once said to lose something that you can only hold is hard but to lose something that you can only feel is tragic. I believe he was talking about friendship. There was some people there tonight that I was not sure I wanted to talk to but they spoke to me. So being the best christen I can be I returned the favor. You know pride is a hard thing to swallow and my is dang near impossible to get down. I just can’t seem to bite it into small enough pieces. There is some country song that I heard a few months back that had a line that said something like “I believe every able body person should work.” then he went on to say “you may not know where I am going but you know where I stand”. Man that is powerful. I don’t know any more of the song or who sings it, for all I know it is old as dust. Just a good message that I got out of it.
I wonder did hale ask. As Danny or Sammy said tonight did he ask lord forgive me. I don’t know. I believe that hale is a christen, I know he was saved. Do I agree with the one-way ticket to hell? No.
Augustine argued in the fifth century that suicide was a violation of the sixth commandment, “You shall not murder” (Exodus 20:13). Later, Thomas Aquinas, being Catholic and believing that confession of sin must be made prior to departure from the world to the next, taught that suicide was the most fatal of all sins because the victim could not repent of it. The problem with his view is that it represents a gross misunderstanding of eternal security, which Scripture clearly teaches. We are saved by the grace of God, not by works (Ephesians 2:8-9) and nothing can separate a Christian from the love of God (Romans 8:37-39). So with all this in mind I KNOW hale is in heaven.
